The kindergarten teachers are: Alaina Gumto, Erica Pilkinton, Leslie Smith, and Hillary Zeller. Kindergarten is full of many wonderful experiences. For some students, it is their first time in a structured school setting. Because of that, we focus on learning how to follow rules and procedures, working with others, and making choices for ourselves. However, we also have many important skills to teach. Some of the skills that we concentrate heavily on throughout the year are: letter recognition, letter sounds, sight words, beginning sounds, ending sounds, rhyming, sound segmenting, sound blending, writing using inventive spelling, number sense 1-20, patterns, graphing, time, money, measurement, addition with numbers 1-10, and subtraction with numbers 1-10. Please remember to check your child’s take-home folder daily, help your child complete his/her homework each night, and review graded work with your child. Thank you for working together with your child’s teacher to provide the best learning experience for your child. |
